Numerous media outlets are reporting that professional golfer Tiger Woods may be reconciling with his ex-wife Elin Nordegren. The couple, who had been married for almost six years, divorced in 2010 after a massive cheating scandal revealed that Woods had at least a dozen extra-marital affairs. Nordergren received a record-breaking $750 million in the couple’s divorce settlement – with the stipulation that she never discuss Wood’s affairs publicly.
But the Huffington Post is reporting that over the holidays, Woods proposed to his ex-wife, even presenting her with an engagement ring. Friends of Woods have reported that he is unhappy with the single life he has had for the past two years and has never recovered from the divorce. Along with the ring, Woods has also reportedly offered Nordegren a pre-nup of $200 million. Sources say she is considering the offer under one condition – that a $350 million anti-cheating clause be added to the agreement.
Woods and Nordegren have two children together — Sam, 5, and Charlie, 3. She was awarded sole physical custody of the children in the divorce, with joint legal custody. As part of their divorce settlement, Woods is banned from introducing the children to any women he dates. Only married women not romantically linked to Woods are allowed around the children, and any female members of staff known to Nordegren.
Although marriage represents new beginnings of a life together, the sad fact remains that almost half of marriages end in divorce.
