Bail has been set at $2 million for Lisa Davis of Westmont, after she admitted to stabbing her husband during an evening argument on February 15. Davis called 911 to tell them that her husband had been stabbed, and when they asked her who did it, she replied, “I did.” She also repeated this during a later interview, saying she struck him with a kitchen knife in the abdomen.

According to this article from the Chicago Tribune, the prosecuting lawyers say the husband, David Davis, was conscious when paramedics arrived on the scene, and also claimed his wife attacked him. He was brought to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, and was pronounced dead just before midnight.

The Chicago Tribune first reported the incident here, stating that Lisa Davis was arrested at the scene of the crime and kept in custody until her bond court hearing. She appeared in court via video, where the DuPage County judge charged her with first-degree murder and set the bail.

Westmont Deputy Chief Jim Gunther stated that the couple lived alone in the apartment and never had children. There were also no previous police records of domestic disturbances from the couple. They seemed like an average couple before the stabbing: David Davis, 49, worked as a handyman and carpenter, and Lisa Davis, 42, worked in customer service.

The article did not specify the next step in Davis’ case.

Having an altercation with your loved one can lead to many outcomes: in the best-case scenario, a divorce can occur. However, if the argument gets heated enough, there could also be arrests and accusations of domestic disturbance, battery, or—as in Lisa Davis’ case—murder.
