Even though divorce is a serious issue, people are very curious when celebrities part ways. It is interesting to see what kind of settlements they reach, who gets the custody of their children or just read about those millions and millions of dollars someone lost in their divorce. From a lawyer's perspective these cases can give an insight to what people should handle differently in their divorces. This time, the Huffington Post reported a story on the unsealing of NASCAR CEO Brian France's divorce documents.
The details of France's divorce from Megan France have been kept confidential since the 2008 divorce by their lawyers, and a judge had ruled them sealed. The documents were, however, ruled to be unsealed by another judge in 2011.
France wanted to keep the documents secret because of a dispute over his ex-wife's possible violation of confidentiality and other provisions of the agreement for their second divorce.
A three-judge panel ruled the decision for the unsealing was valid, so the documents are available for the public.
The divorce immediately cost France $9 million, with additional $32,000 a month in alimony and $10,000 a month in child support, according to lawyers' statements in court
